Equine Forage Farms produces small square bales of orchard, orchard fescue, novel endophyte fescue, and mixed cool season grass hays. We bale the majority of our hay and supplement our supply by importing hay from producers that we know personally in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, and Wyoming.

Equine Forage Farms was created to provide horse owners with quality hay produced specifically for the horse. The idea started in 1986 when my wife and I purchased our first home on a small farm. Horses quickly followed and so did the problems that one gets when trying to find quality horse hay, that issue was exacerbated when we acquired a registered quarter horse that had been kept in the basement of a bank barn filled with beef cows and fed moldy hay. We acquired an excellent ( but disabled ) show horse with heaves so bad that the horse had heave lines and could hardly trot without marked shortness of breath and coughing. After multiple attempts to purchase clean hay ( which failed ), we decided to produce our own and then integrated propionic acid, moisture testing, raking techniques, tedding, and storage measures to prevent ash in the hay. That horse ( Lucky ), improved ( off all medications )to the point that he returned to the show ring and won consistently in hunter jumper competition. We continued to produce our own hay and pretty soon had people asking us for hay and consulting us on hay production issues. We have dealt with a plethora of issues such as night shades, milk weed, dogbane, foxtail, johnson grass, fall penicum, mold issues in clover, carbohydrate levels with equine metabolic syndrome, neotyphodium coenophialum in fescue and its risk to pregnant mares, and even selenium deficiency in horses. We try our very best to deliver quality hay and also be a reputable source of information for our customers when dealing with forage issues . We stand behind our products.
